OMG!!!! B is going gang-busters on the getting the peepee in the potty instead of her pretty pony panties!!! 3.5 years old and I think I can finally say that the child is potty trained... for the most part.
Its not that she didnt WANT to go in the potty... heck she's been pooing in the potty since before she was 2 yrs old... its that she wouldnt tell us she had to peepee. Too busy playing, not aware she was wet or needed to go, just not physically mature enough... I dont know but I hate it when Dr Jon is right!!!
Dadee said 'Just put her in the panties and we'll deal with the mess if there's one' a couple of weeks ago. There's only been 1 accident and that was because Miss Princess Panties decided to argue with her father about it being time to go potty... guess Dadee was right hmmm?!?!?!
B still wears a pull up at night (sometimes dry... sometimes not), at nap time (usually dry!), and to preschool (dry-ness depends on what activity is going on and how in to it she is). Otherwise she's swinging free in pony, dora, and blue clues! There's a lot less bum crumbs now (you mommies know what I mean about the crumbly insides of pullups when they get wet....) and that makes us ALL happy!!!
We are so proud of you B! You are such a good girl!
It was SHQ first Christmas this year, and mama and daddee tried there best to make sure she and here sister had the best time ever.
As usual the girls helped put the tree, ornaments, and other dec'onations around the house. We sent up an advent tree as well. Each girl took turns taking a widdle star/angel/santa out of the bag and put it on the number on the tree. We would count down then the number of days left.
We have talked about Santa at least every week, helping SHQ understand what was going on as well BiXiu since this is her second turn around though she is only barely 4 yo.
This year, Santa's schedule was pretty tight, and the SHQ is really not fond of strangers coming into the house when we are sleeping. So Daddee made a deal with Santa. He would call Daddee on his cell-phone when we was about to make his stop at the house, and then leave the presents on the front porch. Dadee would bring them in and setup them up for Santa. Everything came together perfectly :)
The girls wanted to make sure that Santa's reindeer didn't go hungry on their long journey around the world. TQ, MC, BIYU made sure to set out a snack for Santa, so the girls setup a plate with reindeer snack (oatmeal, spices, sparkles) and some carrots for energy. They also colored a few pictures for him to put on his frigerator.
Santa came and went and the next morning bright and early the girls were up and didn't want to have a morning cuddle, they wanted to race downstairs and see what Santa had brought.
The girls came down to see all each having a set of presents nested into their new little lounge chairs, Spongebob, and Dora if you must know :)
They also are the proud owners and starting to really figure out and enjoy playing their Leapster L-Max handheld systems. They got a few games each that they can trade and play, and they are having a ball with them.
Mom and dadee had a great christmas as well, they got some downtime, a nice quiet night xmas eve in front of the fireplace with a plate of smoked Salmon, sliced cucumbers, proscuitto, and sheep cheese, all smothered in creme Fraiche. Paired with a nice assortment of crackers, and good black tea. As well we learned how to play a very ancient game known as Go. Needless to say, Mama won this round :)
The girls still had the rest of the this year off, but m/d still had to go back to work, so B gets to spend the whole days with the grand mama, and SHQ gets her first winter break learning about textures and materials in a 3-day Art Class at the Art Center. Next year SHQ should be able to go to the playhouse!
So far she is having a smashing good time and has brought home the most amazing pieces of Art Work. The first day she brought home a couple of games she made from scratch. One of a known game, and one of a game she made up herself. She was playing with her sister and mama all that night. The next day she came home with a mask, a balloon exhibit, and very sparkly, and kewl crown.
I'm sitting here at the table watching the girls and dadee play with playdoh. I like to just watch because there arent enough good playdoh toys to go around and Dadee is really creative with his playdoh!
B gives a running commentary on what she's doing with her doh. SHQ just pipes up when she wants to show something off... otherwise she's got her head down and is concentrating on her creation.
B... honey... you need to get down and go potty. If you dont go right now... you're going to make Blue on your Blue's Clues panties ALL WET!!!
The girls, like all other wee people, like to eat at McDonalds. Usually chicken nuggets, milk and apple slices Happy Meals are par for the course... sometimes they change it up with a cheese burger but that is rare. Dadee always gets a big fry and we share it between the four of us... no one needs that much grease or starch!
I'm talking to Dana this afternoon and Shae asks to talk to him. She then proceeds to tell him that he must go to Old MacDonald's tonight and she has to go with him. He protests, but she counters with 'but we eat at home ever day!'. She harasses him a little more.... trying to bend him to her will until I ask for the phone back.
Shae gives the phone back but says 'be sure tell him to go to Old MacDonald, Mommy... you make him listen.' OKAY!!! Does this girl know how it works or does she know how it works!!
I says to him 'so what are you making for supper?' Shae screams 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Thats not what you were suppose to tell him!! Tell him!!!'
Since I'm a good Mama, I say to Dadee 'I'm suppose to tell you to go to McDonalds.... so what are you making for supper?'
Heh!!!
Auntie Sis and I were talking about posts she had read on an adult korean adoptee forum. She said that she has never read one post out there that indicated the posters were happy they were adopted. All posts indicate that the posters had terrible family lives, felt like outsiders in their own families, were isolated, and experienced racism. Most express the wish that they had stayed in Korea.
Either there are no happy cases of international adoption OR those folks who do think they had good lives dont post.... I dont know.
What I do know is this... we have and will always do the best we can for you girls. If you resent us later for trying to love you and give you a good life, that is your choice. But always remember... no matter what... that Mama and Dadee love you with all of our hearts. Its your choice on whether or not you let your being adopted rule your world or you accept your life for what it is.
