This was Aubree BiXiu's first Easter and BaiYu's too! Fun was had by all, the Easter Bunny is one kewl dude! Not only were there eggs to find in the yard, there were also books, bubbles, colors, and toys scattered about! Yesterday afternoon we all colored eggs in Grandma's kitchen - B was too impatient to keep her eggs in the dye very long so she made some of the most beautiful pastel colored eggs :)
B, BaiYu, and Mya all wore little knit dresses today - Grandma thought they looked like old farmer ladies with their play coats on. It was a bright shiny day and warm - the best kind of day for the Easter Bunny to come!
After egg hunting, everyone played with their new sand toys and swang on the swings. Then we all went in for a good lunch of ham, scalloped potatoes, sweet potatoes, mixed vegges, rolls, and deviled eggs :)
I've been meaning to write it down for awhile now, but I've had other things I wanted to talk about instead. So tonight we will discuss the things that are uniquely Aubree BiXiu - I'll keep it down to 5 things so when B reads this when she's 16, she'll only be slightly embarrassed by her dear old Mum
1. I love the way you scrutch your nose up and your eyes disappear when you smile your beautiful smile... you make my heart melt!
2. You've got the sweetest Buddha belly! Mama just loves to rub it!
3. Your toes are very cute - your second toe on each foot is still shorter than the 3rd toe but its catching up!
4. I love the way you talk - you have a awesome lilt to your words. I could listen to you tell me 'No way!' every hour for the rest of my life.
5. You have your very own hidden beauty mark! Its a little bitty freckle hidden in your hair right on top of your head. I always try to find it when I'm fixing your hair... its tiny but I think it has a little heart shape to it :)
You must be dadees little girl.
As far as I can remember one of my favorite foods, among the rest of my brothers is a love for pickles. Not just any pickles but the tangy DILL pickle. When I was a kid my mom canned many things. She made jams, and jellies. She canned tomatos and tomato juice. She froze kernel cut sweet corn. She even would make the occasional batch of pickles. She would use very large jars, and put lots of dill, bits and twigs in it. Man were those tastey. My brothers and I would got through them like wildfire.
Over the years, I have tried quite a few different brands, and the best store bought pickles have always been in 2nd place The Gedney. Its of course the Minnesota pickle. But what all the other pickles have even common that seperates them from my favorite is that they all arrive and are stored at the store at room temperature. Vlassic are ok, but are a distance 3rd or 4th. I like the Claussen(sp?). The arrive at the store fridgerated, and cold, and make it home the same.
So a few months after we had gotten you home Aubree daddee was eating a pickle and you were 'labylabying' for a little taste. What can we say, you like to partake in just about anything anyone is eating or drinking. As everyone knows though, pickles have a bite to them usually on your first taste. Interesting point, it has been said that people that like Mustard, often like pickles, and visa versa. And to tell you the truth I do not think I have met anyone that has not followed that simple rule. Anyway, back to BiXiu. At first you tried to take a small bite and made a eww face, and a little shiver as you pulled away your mouth. Then you got brave, and tried to take a bite again, this time getting a small chunk off. As you started to chew it you gave me this big smile.
My daughter just loves pickles. She has been known even at pre-2yo to sneak out the pickle jar out of the fridge as it is openned by one of the parental units for something else. She use to go for the Grey-Pu-Pon, but it has been since moved to a difference shelf. I have also noticed that as daddee gets a few pickles out, a small one for B, and bigger one for him, that like dadee you will start to salivate in anticipation of biting into that wonderful green dill pickle.
For now you are definately dadees girl in the pickle regard and I how you continue to have that taste so you my enjoy a few minute with me together and we munch happily.
Last weekend was a BiXiu clothes buying extravaganza! The poor kid can fit in nothing I bought her at the end of the summer last year - she is a growing like a weed! We hit Kohls and Old Navy - all of her shirts are 4 or 5... I'm talking about big girl 4 and 5... no T involved. The shorts are still 3T, 4T, and one pair of pants that say they are 5...but I just think they're cut different.
Dad picked up the rest of the needed shorts today at Younkers - all 4T and just a tad too big. Better to be too big/have to roll them over instead of a perfect fit - means she can wear them all season as she grows big and strong plus possible carry over to next year!
I think we're set! We even have her 2 year old picture outfit purchased! This year's picture is going to be in a beautiful light green peasant top with pink trim and flowered crappy pants! Trust me - B looks beautiful in it!
You are becoming quite the little personality! The latest task tackled has been the skill of feeding yourself :) Mama and Dadee have been letting you try on and off to feed yourself for a couple of months now... but you seem to get the hang of it just here lately!
Last night it was a bowl of scrambled eggs, this morning your oatmeal minus the pineapple bits (you have a tendancy to squirrel the tidbits in your chipmuck cheeks), and now spagetti and meatballs! WooWoo! Such a big girl working the fork - we are awfully proud of you!
Now if I can just get you to stop feeding Java your lucky charms at snacktime, we'll be in business!
