Your new social security card came this week with your full name on it - woowoo! Just your birth certificate and cert of citizenship left to get in the mail!
You're growing like a weed, Aubree BiXiu! I cleaned out your drawers Tuesday and I came away with only 5 outfits that you still fit in. Off to Younkers we all went on our lunch hour to find the baby girl something to wear! Got some really sweet outfits - look like such a big girl in them! We think you've gained 4 pounds since your last dr visit - Daddy swears when he looks at your he can see you growing!
LEGACY OF AN ADOPTED CHILD
Once there were two women
Who never knew each other
One you do not remember
The other you call mother.
Two different lives
Shaped to make yours one
One became your guiding star
The other became your sun.
The first gave you life
And the second taught you to live in it.
One gave you a nationality
The other gave you a name
One gave you the seed of talent
The other gave you aim.
One gave you emotions
The other calmed your fears
One saw your first sweet smile
The other dried your tears.
One gave you up.........
It was all that she could do
The other prayed for a child
And God led her straight to you.
And now you ask me
Through your tears,
The age-old questions
Through the years
Heredity or environment
Which are you the product of?
Neither my darling....neither
Just two kinds of love.
I know a little girl that is not real happy with Mama right now... Auntie Sis told me that in order to get you to wear your hat that I had to work at it and be persistant.
Well... I was and you kept your hands off your hat for most of the walk. You werent very happy about it - never have I seen such pouting! It took all of my will power not to giggle at yew - that wouldnt have helped at all :D
Yesterday, Mama and Daddy's great big mistake was righted officially. At 8:30am, Judge Paulsen of the 5th
District Circuit Court of Iowa signed your name change from Aubree Xiu Cleveland to Aubree BiXiu Cleveland.
At 9:25am, your name was officially changed at the local Social Security Office.
At almost 1pm, we finally got to submit your name change for your Certificate of Citizenship. It was a 3 hour wait to submit it and it has got to be the most humbling experience of my life... every U.S. born citizen should have to go spend a wait at INS. Then we would all experience first hand what people have to go through to legally live and work in America when they are born outside of the U.S.
A very bad mistake we made when we dropped the BI from your name, but I feel better knowing that you have your entire name back now :)
And she's off like a shot! There is no corralling the baby girl now. In the span of a week, you have decided that cruising is the activity of choice!
Does Aubree want to sit on the floor and play with toys? NOOOOOOOOOO!! Aubree has bigger fish to fry - like running all over the house like she's been running all of her life. You climbed up all of the stairs by yourself - I just held on to the bottom of your diaper to make sure you didnt fall backwards. You wander all over the place now - you even helped me do the laundry today by taking all of the clean clothes out of the dryer and throwing them on the floor :D
Love you baby - you catching up in leaps and bounds!
Aubree BiXiu! You are learning so many new things that its not even funny! You're starting to creep around the furniture and take little adventure trips off on your own. You like to mimic so you've said doggie, kittie, mama, dada, stinker, Java (comes out nana cuz we say 'no Java!' so much), Sush for Sushi, Grandma, jar, diaper, and I think you said cookie the other day :) You can also sit yourself up from laying down, spin in a circle (Baba says that you're going to wear a hole in your bum :D), and are just learning how to crawl!
Soon there will be no coralling you - you'll be off and running before we're ready! Mama is so glad that you are learning new things and that you are adjusting so well to the two goofy people known as your parents :)
