Dream a little dream

Dream a little dream of you...

I had a dream Wednesday night... we were in our favorite Turkey-Day haunt. Around were all the usual suspects - Granny, Auntie Sis, TQ, MC, Dana, and me. The thing that was different was there was an extra high-chair inhabited by a dark-haired beauty... chortling at the top of her lungs with a piece of turkey in each hand and cranberry sauce smeared all over her face :)

I couldnt see her face, but I know it was Aubree ;)

In other news, there is word from the USCIS (the government department formerly known as INS) issued a statement that they will issue Certificates of Citizenship to all international adoptees within 45 days of their entry into the United States - Thank you GOD!!

Thats a really good

Thats a really good point you got there!

Some one out on APC posted this afternoon that they didnt want 500 people showing up at the airport when she and her husband step off the plane with their baby. Lord to I so totally agree with that! Instead of writing out to APC in response to her post, I'll just do it right here!

When I get off that plane, I am not going to want to meet and greet or play hostess to ANYONE! I'm gonna want to schlep off the plane in my comfy yoga pants, my t-shirt, my hair stuffed under my doo-rag, and take my baby quietly home. There had better not be a marching band, a camera crew like some of the people in town have had when they came home with babies or a ton of relatives because I will just walk by like I dont know you people. I am not going to be in the mood after being on a plane for god only knows how many hours and there will be plenty of time to meet/greet after we all get over our jet lag.

Have a little compassion and common-sense those of you that arent going. Yes, you're going to be excited for folks that just got their babies but step back! Do you realize how overwelmed that tiny baby is going to be? Do you know how tired the parents are going to be? If the parents ask for help - give it to them, but dont just show up the day they come home and expect that family to want to do anything but go home to peace and quiet.

Its like when a woman gives birth to a baby - some people with respect that the family needs time to recover and adjust... other people will just be so excited that they just bust down the door. Adoption is no different - exhaustion and being overwelmed with new-ness is the same. My advice to family and friends is to give the family at least 2 weeks to settle in before coming over. When you do come over... dont come over all at once - coordinate with others on times and please call before just showing up!

The dr is IN!

The dr is IN!

Auntie Sis comes through yet again! She got Aubree on THE LIST for T and M's pediatrician! I am just giddy cuz Dr. J is the best doctor in town for little children and he's got tons of experience with Chinese adoptees! Life is GOOD!

oh my.... The Feb/March 2003

oh my....

The Feb/March 2003 referrals are in today... Not sure what to think - I'm excited and frightened at the same time! Excited because we're that much closer to Aubree... and frightened because we're that much closer to Aubree!

If they double up one more month - here is the lay of the land:

Dec - Apr/May
Jan - Jun
Feb - Jul
Mar - AUG - that means travel in MAY!

If they dont double up next month:

Dec - Apr
Jan - May
Feb - Jun
Mar - Jul
Apr - AUG - that means travel in JUNE!

If they double up TWO more months:

Dec - Apr/May
Jan - Jun/Jul
Feb - AUG - that means travel in April.... I think I shall hyperventilate!

We're slowing making our way towards you Peanut! Hang on while God and Country hash it out!

The great bag debate continues

The great bag debate continues

I'm not sure what bags to take to China. I thought we would take our big backpacks and the diaperbag backpack as COO, but I'm not sure the stewards will let us on the plane with the diaperbag backpack and I'm afraid the big backpacks are too big.

The only way I'm going to know for sure is to pack everything up that we're going to take ahead of time. I did a dry run of just our clothes while I was on medical leave, but I didnt do the baby stuff and I didnt have the toiletries actually in the bags. Oye vey.... *sighs*

Where the heck are the

Where the heck are the referrals?!?!?

There are a lot of frustrated people out on the yahoo groups this week! Many people thought the Feb/Mar referrals were going to be here two weeks ago and they may not come until next week. I dont know what to say except the wait is hard... so very hard... :(

Nervous energy Mama's got a

Nervous energy

Mama's got a lot of nervous energy to do something with while we wait for you, Peanut. Some Mamas bake cookies or something domestic like that when they're in what I like to call the 'nesting' stage. Your Mama doesnt cook a lick (thats Dad's department), so to keep from going completely nuts while I wait for you - I home improve :)

Yes, Aubree - your Mama is a lean mean home improving machine! Able to do electrical work, landscape, and paint in a single bound! Heck Mama is even contemplating buying a fix-er-upper with more room than our current house in the next couple of months just for something to do!

Entry way #2 tried its best to escape the wraith of Mama but it finally had to surrender to new tile this weekend. It turned out very nice as most of our projects usually do and I've very glad to have it done. When you're a big girl, you can help Dad and me with house projects - everyone and I dont care who they are - need to know how to do home repairs whether they like it or not! You cannot live in this fishbowl we call life and expect someone else to come along to fix a crack - you'll run out of water waiting :)
